Durham police investigating fatal shooting

Durham, N.C. — Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened at a Durham apartment late Saturday night.
Investigators say Jeffery Lamar Dawes, 21, of Durham, was taken just after 10 p.m. from Apt. 9, at 561 Liberty St., to Duke University Hospital, where he later died.
The case is being investigated as a homicide, authorities said, but they did not release any other information about the crime.
