Durham police investigate shooting death

Police said Tuesday that they are investigating a Sunday night shooting death in south Durham.

DURHAM, N.C. — Police said Tuesday that they are investigating a Sunday night shooting death in south Durham.

Officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of C View Street shortly after 9 p.m., and when they arrived, they found a 16-year-old boy dead inside the house, police said.

The victim's name hasn't been released, and investigators are trying to determine the circumstances surrounding his shooting.

Officers found two guns inside the home that had been reported stolen during a Saturday burglary at a nearby residence.

Jamond Alston, 17, of South Alston Avenue, was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a handgun by a minor, possession of stolen property, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Durham County jail under a $50,000 bond.

No charges have been filed in connection with the shooting.
