Durham police investigate fatal shooting on Dearborn Drive

Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened Monday evening in northern Durham.

DURHAM, N.C. — Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened Monday evening in northern Durham.

Officers were dispatched to a shooting call just after 7 p.m. at Two Brothers convenience store at 3310 Dearborn Drive. Upon arrival, officers found a man who had been shot inside a car in the parking lot, said Kammie Michael, a police department spokeswoman.

Paramedics transported the victim, later identified as 21-year-old Marko D. Thornton, of Butner, to Duke University Hospital for treatment.  He was pronounced dead a short time later, Michael said.
