Durham police investigate death of man found on railroad trestle

Officers responded to railroad tracks near N.C. Highway 55 and Carpenter Fletcher Road late Monday morning in response to a report of a man lying on a railroad trestle.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police are investigation after a body was found near railroad tracks Monday morning.

Officers responded to railroad tracks near N.C. Highway 55 and Carpenter Fletcher Road late Monday morning in response to a report of a man lying on a railroad trestle.

The man, identified as Javan Burt, 29, of Durham, died of an apparent gunshot wound, investigators said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No charges have been filed.
