Durham police identify body found in car in woods

Durham police are investigating the death of man found inside a car in a wooded area on South Roxboro Street last week.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police are investigating the death of man found inside a car in a wooded area on South Roxboro Street last week.

They identified the victim Tuesday as 21-year-old Luciano Alejandro Cabrera and said they are treating the case as a homicide.

Officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of South Roxboro Street to check on a suspicious vehicle around 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 19. They found Cabrera's body inside.

The cause of death has not been released.

Another man was seen in surveillance video using Cabrera's credit card at 3:39 a.m. on June 11 at the State Employees Credit Union branch at 504 S. Duke St. Police haven't identified him.
