Durham Police Charge Man With Robbery

Posted June 27, 2007

— Durham police arrested a man Wednesday and charged him with robbery.

Rodney Lamont Burnette, 37, was charged with robbing Kerr Drugs, 3600 North Duke St., on June 22.

He allegedly entered the store around 3 p.m. and asked for three cartons of Newport cigarettes. When the employee brought him the cigarettes, Burnette grabbed the cartons and started to walk away, according to police.

The employee told him to stop because he had not paid for the cigarettes, but Burnette allegedly pulled out a gun, told the employee “They’re paid for” and ran out of the store.

Burnette is facing robbery charges in several cases, police said.

I didn't get to see Milkys post... although most are great. These situations always seem to turn racial - funny because everyone can find everything to talk about but the "SUBJECT".

Kingtee76 and the rest of you who post behind those opinions.

I AM NOT a racist but just remember the black people that were sent here originally whether brought by Europeans or Spanish or who were sold into slavery BY THERE OWN RACE. So drop the race ticket - There have been slaves since the biblical days and before - and AFRICA was not the first to have slaves anywhere.

Read some history or talk about something you know instead of commenting on something out of emotion.

From the info on the department of corrections website he is on his way back home.

Honestly, this "Milkys" comments are not worthy of a response. It is degenerative ideas and thoughts such his/hers that is the cause of the lack of unity in this country and the reason why people as a whole will never "over come." Every day someone dies. And it is not offset by race. People of all creeds and backgrounds kill. If reading WRAL upsets you so much then perhaps you would do yourself a favor by not reading or watching the news because if the only crimes you so happen to see are those committed by people of color then perhaps you should get your retna's checked. That sounds like something your eye doctor should be alerted about. And I for one am glad that you are being honest about how you feel towards people of color. Most will hide behind a sheet and never own their true hatred or prejudice. But you, you are still wearing your sheet, you just opted to be hoodless. Prayers to you and yours for your angst and hope that the Lord touches your heart and opens your mind.

That would mean your fore fathers committed a crime huh milky? They came here and STOLE the land that was already occupied by the indians.

MILKY----Beniot was full blooded Canadian ... Black people were brought over to this country out of ignorance and was never sent back like they should of been. So now we face the fall out from our for fathers wrong choices

Milky, you seem to be having a difficult time expressing your thoughts in a clear manner that makes any sense. You keep leaving words out as in "So now we face the fall out from our for fathers wrong choices." This sentence makes no sense.

Well, personally, I've never really cared for wrestling.

I'm still wondering why this is news. Reporting on a robbery in Durham would be like reporting on speeding at a NASCAR race.
