Durham police car collides with truck

Durham, N.C. — A Durham police cruiser collided with a flatbed truck Thursday morning, sending an officer to the hospital, police said.
The wreck occurred at Kent Street and Lakewood Avenue at about 11:40 a.m., police said. A preliminary investigation determined that the truck ran a red light on Kent Street, police said.
The officer, whose name wasn't released, was taken to Durham Regional Hospital for treatment. The truck driver was uninjured.
The patrol car was heavily damaged in the wreck, police said.
