Durham police buy more Tasers

— The City Council has approved spending nearly $177,000 to buy more Tasers for the Durham Police Department.

Last year, the City Council approved a request to buy 110 Tasers, a brand of electronic stun-gun. The council has decided to buy 125 more, plus accessories.

Tasers shoot out metal prongs that attach to clothing or skin and give electric jolts. The weapons are used as normally nonlethal alternatives to guns, but have caused some deaths. They use what their manufacturer terms "neuro-muscular incapacitation" that deprives the target of body control.

Some officers say the devices prevent injuries to them and suspects because just the threat of using a Taser is often enough to subdue someone.

    "Dr plus Dataclerk equal Oxymoron

The funny thing is she doesn't even know what oxymoron means. One day she wrote, "you're an oxymoron" with no foundation/reason as to why she wrote it. I think she thinks it's some kind of special moron. ;-)

They have not released the cause of the taser death in Minneapolis yet. He was a Teacher's aide, former Radio host. So NO he was not a junkie. The Dept. is ASKING for med charts to try and find a cause. They have yet to say what is the cause of death. If it was drugs that would have been said right away. The Taser must have done damage to something.

Web Search Minneapolis Taser Death and you should find the story I am talking about.

"I am good. Don't intend to break any laws that will put me in prison. :) lol
    Dr. Dataclerk"

That's fine and dandy, but since you're a know-it-all who doesn't seem to appreciate or support your local police officers, why don't we see what your life would be like if we all took a month off from work.

"If cops are afraid of doing their job, maybe they should get out now while they are alive and find another comfortable job that they are qualified to do."

You sit behind your little desk and type that garbage? Wouldn't you want a taser if you encountered someone so flipped out on drugs they stripped naked and were ready to fight? You know how hard it is to control someone pumped full of narcotics?

    Dr. Dataclerk"

Unbelievable comment. But do we expect less? He didn't say it keeps officers from being killed. %&%&@#)*&!($($
