Durham police ask for help in finding robbery suspect

DURHAM, N.C. – Durham police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man they think is responsible for robberies at several area stores.

Samuel Brown, 34, of Durham, is charged with one count of common-law robbery, three counts of larceny from a person, one count of attempted larceny from a person, breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering and injury to property.

Investigators said a man entered the stores and asked to buy either gum or cigar. When the cashier opened the register, the man grabbed money and fled.

The stores targeted include Cruizers, 1914 Sedwick Road; BP convenience store, 4525 Durham-Chapel Hill Boulevard; Gas House, 1102 North Carolina Highway 54 East; Dollar Tree, 4215 University Drive; Family Fare, 4161 Old Chapel Hill Road; and Kangaroo Express, 4830 Hope Valley Road.

Brown is driving a black Chevrolet Cavalier with a North Carolina license plate CBA-5218. He was wearing a green coat over a dark hoodie with white writing on the front during several of the incidents.

Anyone with information on his location is asked to call 919-560-4583 or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200. Crime Stoppers pays cash for information leading to an arrest, and callers may remain anonymous.

    He should be easier to find seeing he is staying in one general area..Hope they catch him before he possible escalates the robberies to violent ones with a weapon.

    Geez those are all in the same general area. they should be able to catch him! I hope so! It's near my house!
