Shooting in Durham stemmed from arrest of alleged peeper
The scuffle that led to the shooting of a Durham police officer in the predawn hours of Monday morning stemmed from the arrest of a man on secret peeping charges, police said.

Officer Turner was taking handcuffs off McMillen in the booking ares of the Durham County jail when, according to a police spokeswoman, he saw McMillen reach for a gun in the back of his waistband.
Police have not said whether McMillen was patted down before he was cuffed or why officers didn't notice he had a weapon.
As the two wrestled, McMillen was able to get off a single shot, which grazed Turner in the abdomen.
Turner was treated at an area hospital and released. McMillen was not injured.
He was charged with misdemeanor secret peeping, assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon by a prisoner and discharging a firearm within the city limits.
McMillen was being held in the jail Monday afternoon under a $505,000 bond.
