Durham museum animals to cool off with summertime treat during Watermelon Day

It's about to get really messy at the Museum of Life and Science.
Monday, Aug. 8, is Watermelon Day at the Durham science museum. During the day, visitors watch as the museum's animal keepers share the summertime favorite with their collection of animals - from the bears to the lemurs to the pigs in the farmyard. You'll see black bears swimming for whole melons and pigs getting excited about frozen melon pops.
This event is a lot of fun because the animals love eating - and playing - with the melons. Guests also are encouraged to bring melons to the museum for the animals to enjoy.
Watermelon Day is free with admission the museum, which is $18 for adults and $13 for kids ages 3 to 12. You could easily spend an entire day here! (Just bring towels and a change of clothes if you head to exhibits such as Into the Mist and Hideaway Woods)!
