— A Durham man charged in connection with a bank robbery at the Wachovia at 300 Foushee St. last week surrendered to police Monday evening.

Derrick Reed Beulah, 37, of Hamlin Street, turned himself in at the Granville County Sheriff's Office. He was charged Saturday with robbery with a dangerous weapon, Durham police said.

A man wearing a long wig and makeup entered the bank on March 2, handed a teller a note which said he had a gun and demanded money in large bills, police said. The robber never showed a weapon. He was seen leaving the bank on a red or pink bicycle.

@ MillerB--- He doesn't have to mention a color to be a racist. Read between the lines, if you can't see that then you are in complete denial.

    punK!

You know Kenneth, it seems to me the only one bringing race into this at all is you. I read Bon Viveur's comment, and at no point at all did he/she say anything about black/white/purple, or any other color you care to mention. The only person mentioning race at all is you......MillerB

Apparently you don't read very well either and you certainly don't have comprehension skills. Safaris are usually conducted in what location.....Africa, the jungle. Sometimes you just have to read between the racist lines.

I love Durham. Frankly this city has more art, culture, education and research to offer as compared to any other city in the area.

If you live here you know what it's really like. This pseudo-environment of crime in Durham isn't too upsetting to me.

Pretty much all of the violent crime is gang on gang. Believe me (people who lock your doors at stoplights) you will not be robbed/assaulted/raped/murdered etc. in Durham.

If you don't like the city because of this stigma of violence, I pity your ignorance.

When my children misbehave I tell them that if they don't act right, I'm sending them to Durham! They shape up mighty quick.
    Bon Viveur

People like you should not have children. All you do is poison their minds and send them out into a world with a distorted vision of whatthe world really looks like.

It's real. Like I said, really no skin off my nose one way or the other, but stop complaining about and denying the comments of others......Bartmeister

You need to stop lying and distorting the truth. You don't know what you are talking about and haven't taken the time to find the facts. You need to stop listening to people who probably know less than you (that's pathetic). The numbers listed below are FACTS from a NATIONAL survey.

This is how NC Cities Rank Nationally Per Capita - These are FACTS:

Most Dangerous Order Rank Safest Order Rank
Charlotte, NC 50 Cary, NC 14
Raleigh, NC 174 Fayetteville, NC 59
    High Point, NC 257 Winston-Salem, NC 72
Durham, NC 276 Wilmington, NC 78
Greensboro, NC 287 Greensboro, NC 92
Wilmington, NC 301 Durham, NC 103 Winston-Salem, NC 307 High Point, NC 122 Fayetteville, NC

Bartmeister, and those like him, I will not stereotype you because I know what you are. All those who have the same skin as you, do not think like you, but those that think like you, I bet have the same common skin tone as you. It's funny how you are quick to make a statement about Durham, when you fail to acknowledge the same crime and crimes in your own city, or maybe that city is anywhere Johnston Co. You work in Durham, why? Because the career path you chose to be amongst the people in the city that you so despise and ridicule, isn't that a coincidence. Those that don't work or live in Durham, please respond with your experience, not the tag along knowledge of those you know nothing about. Please go to the right of the home page and look at the Wake Co. arrest in the past 14 days, and tell me how you can believe that Raleigh, Cary, Apex, and all else of Wake Co. isn't just like the city you critique so harshly, and with so much bias.

It's amazing you admit to teaching your kids racism by threatening to send them to Durham if they misbehave. Maybe you should drop them off in Durham, that way your kids can see that most folks are descent people unlike their racist father.-Kenneth B

You know Kenneth, it seems to me the only one bringing race into this at all is you. I read Bon Viveur's comment, and at no point at all did he/she say anything about black/white/purple, or any other color you care to mention. The only person mentioning race at all is you.

Right, wrong, or indifferent...... the comments made can be backed up to a large degree. Check it out people. I don't live in Durham (used to), but i work there. I share the same feelings as the first poster. He was making a joke, I'm not. More violent crimes per capita in Durham than Raleigh....... It's a statistical fact. It doesn't mean you have to like it, but instead of denial, vote in people that will run on a campaign of reducing crime. You deserve that much. You really need it......Bartmeister

This is another example of bias and where did your facts come from? Just last week, the latest crime census stated that violent crime in Durham has come down. Also, since you want to cite per capita crime why didn't you give specific numbers. I'll help you out. Go to the recommended website below and see the FACTS for yourself. You don't need to have liars giving you false information.
