DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham high school graduate could be deported to Mexico in the next few days.

Jesus Molina-Mendoza gathered with his supporters at a vigil at Monument of Faith Church earlier this week. The Riverside High School graduate told the crowd he is not a criminal and should be allowed to stay in the U.S.

Molina-Mendoza, who is undocumented and gay, says he fears returning to Mexico because anti-gay violence there is a danger to his life. He could be deported by Tuesday if he is not granted a stay of removal as he appeals his case in court.
