DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham man died Monday when he suffered a heart attack while riding the ski lift at the Copper Mountain resort in Colorado, authorities said Wednesday.

Christopher Harrison, 46, arrived in Summit County, Colo., with a group on Saturday, authorities said.

On Monday, witnesses said, Harrison was riding the ski lift when he slumped forward in his chair about halfway up the mountain. When he reached the summit, the lift operator summoned the ski patrol for help.

He was taken to St. Anthony's Copper Mountain Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
