— A Durham man was critically injured Thursday night when an explosion ripped apart a home, authorities said.

The man, whose name hasn't been released, was walking into a bathroom at 1007 Colfax St. at about 6 p.m. when the explosion occurred, dislodging the one-story home's floor and several walls, Durham Fire Department Deputy Chief Chris Iannuzzi said.

Firefighters found the man on the sidewalk, and he was taken to the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center at UNC Health Care with burns on over 50 percent of his body, Iannuzzi said.

A fire in the home after the explosion was put out in about six minutes, he said.

PSNC Energy plans to check its service records for the home after the holiday weekend to help the fire department determine the cause of the blast, he said.

Yeah wait until after the holiday weekend, PSNC, to help the fire department determine why a man is at the Jaycee Burn Center. Really great optics choosing to wait till your days off are over to check records. Reckon we can guess what the PS *doesn't* stand for.
