Durham man charged in wife's death

Posted December 7, 2011

— A Durham man was arrested Wednesday in connection with his wife's death in October, police said.

Simeka Daughtridge, 29, was found shot at 1100 Spruce St. on Oct. 30, and she died at Duke University Hospital.

Travis Lamont Daughtridge, 25, was charged with murder and was being held in the Durham County jail without bond.

Police said Travis Daughtridge told investigators that his wife shot herself, but the evidence didn't back up his story.

Unlike yesterday's story where if you rob banks you get life in prison 26 times over. rockman55

I know! Wasn't that crazy? I mean, I know he caused alot of strife, but 26 life sentences?! Our justice system is certainly not balanced.

He should get life in prison without parole. What an excuse of a man to say she shot and kill herself when he did it all along. May justice be served big time here.

@scubagirl "what is wrong with people" is not even a strong enough question? I just cannot come up with the proper measure for what is happening? It must be mass insanity!
