Durham, N.C. — A Durham man was accused Sunday of ramming a state Highway Patrol car with his car during a high speed chase.
State troopers say Tracy Toomer, 46, was driving drunk and speeding just after 12 a.m. on Interstate 540. When police tried to stop him, they say he sped off, then slammed his car into the cruiser before spinning out.
Toomer was charged with driving while impaired, assault on a government official and speeding to elude arrest.
