DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police have arrested a man they say robbed a food vendor outside a Shell station earlier this month.

Ronnie Donnell Smith, 51, of James Street, was charged Monday with robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was being held in the Durham County jail under a $250,000 bond on Tuesday.

Investigators said Smith placed an order at the walk-up window of the Dog House, 921 N. Miami Blvd., at around 7:45 p.m. on July 14, and then pointed an object that police believe might have been a gun at the cashier.

He demanded money and told the cashier to lie on the ground before fleeing with an undetermined amount of cash, investigators said.
