Durham man arrested in attacks near Duke campus

— Police on Tuesday night arrested a Durham man in connection with two recent attacks near the Duke University campus.

Durham police and Duke police both issued arrest warrants for Samuel Jamal Hasty, 27, of 812 Underwood Ave., Apt. 12, earlier in the day. Hasty was jailed under a $750,000 bond.

Hasty is accused of sexually assaulting and robbing a woman along Swift Avenue on Nov. 30 and of assaulting a woman with a stun gun and robbing her Saturday at Sarah P. Duke Gardens.

    Never mind the victims of his crimes, he's a victim, too.

    @Joel - I looked it up, he's got felonies going back ten years, and no doubt a juvenile record.

    Georgia passed a two strikes law in the 1990s for repeat violent offenders. The first strike the criminal is sent to prison for ten years. The second strike is life without parole.
