— A Durham man was arrested for the 15th time Wednesday after sheriff’s deputies found a stolen gun and drugs in his home.

Deputies said they were executing a search warrant at the home of Dwight Allan Judd Jr., 322 Junction St., when they found a Ruger 9mm pistol, 11 grams of crack cocaine, and several oxycodone and Percocet pills. They also seized a Remington rifle and $495 cash.

Judd, 24, was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a schedule II controlled substance. He was booked in the Durham County jail and released after posting a $100,000 bond.

Durham County Sheriff Mike Andrews said Judd has been arrested 15 times since 2006, including an arrest for a charge of attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill in August 2013. Those charges were later dismissed.

He should spend years in prison and not be on the streets now. I guess drug dealing pays well.

How did a 24 yr old post a $100,000 bond? You may not know it, but some bail bonds men will get you out of jail without paying a dime. The defendant signs a loan contract and then goes out to commit crimes to pay back his bail bondsman. The bail bond industry is a criminal joke! They knowing release dangerous defendants from jail just so they can make a buck. They were caught paying off clerks in Wake County so they would not have to pay their forfeitures. Check out the Dept of Insurance's lists of arrests of these "small business" people.

They going to release people who meet very specific qualifications. Since this guys has violent offenses, he will clearly not be released.

Releasing non-violent drug offenders frees up resources to deal with more serious criminals.

Since this young man is on his 15th - seems like the courthouse judges are controlled by certain people in what appears as some kind of lawyer money-making game machine like Let’s make a deal.

Attitudes like this are why people like Judd keep doing what they are doing.
