DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham man faces assault and driving while impaired charges after a 5-mile chase along Interstate 85 early Sunday.

Granville County Sheriff Brindel Wilkins said that a deputy tried to pull over a vehicle with suspicious tags, but the driver sped off. Authorities pursued the vehicle until the driver pulled off I-85, stopped on Geer Street and ran.

Authorities searched the area and arrested Ronnie L. Bullock, 55, near where he lives on Redwood Drive, off Geer Street, Wilkins said.
