DURHAM, N.C. — An abandoned Durham house destroyed by flames early Sunday had been set on fire twice in one week, police said.

Heavy flames were shooting through the roof of the house at 1003 Taylor St. when firefighters were called out at 12:26 a.m. Sunday, firefighters said. Crews worked for two hours to extinguish the fire, and the house was a total loss.

Firefighters said the initial evidence points to someone intentionally setting the blaze. They said that a fire at the house earlier last week also appears to have been intentionally set.

No one was injured in either fire.
