Durham, N.C. — A Durham firefighter was injured during a training exercise on Jordan Lake Tuesday afternoon.
A boating accident occurred while fire technician Erick Rozier was participating in urban search-and-rescue training. The training involved boat operations which is directly related to the fire department’s role as a member of the Task Force 8, Urban, Search and Rescue Team (USAR).
Rozier sustained major head injuries, authorities said. He was listed in critical condition at UNC Hospitals Thursday morning.
