Durham fatal shooting victim identified, wounded man hospitalized

Durham police identified a man Tuesday who died in a Canal Street shooting over the weekend.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police identified a man Tuesday who died in a Canal Street shooting over the weekend.

Jimmie Lamont Harris, 24, of Dowd Street in Durham, was found by officers around 5 p.m., lying on the steps in front of 507 Canal St. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another victim, a 28-year-old man whose name was not released, was shot in the shoulder and arm. He walked a few blocks to get help and was still being treated Tuesday at Duke University Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

No arrests have been made.
