Two members of a Durham family were killed and two others injured Thursday morning in a wreck on Interstate 95 in Virginia, according to state police there.

Police said the driver, Teresa E. Bridges, 51, ran off the left side of the interstate, over-corrected and hit a tree. Her injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

The front seat passenger, Spencer D. Bridges, 52, suffered life-threatening injuries. The two passengers in the back seat – 75-year-old Joe L. Thomas and 45-year-old Garry W. Estes – died of their injuries at a hospital.

Virginia police said the family was traveling from Durham to Washington, D.C., for a college graduation at the time of the crash.
