Durham deputies looking for stolen Harley

Posted August 7, 2009

— Investigators have asked for the public's help catching whoever stole a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle from a house in the 11000 block of Wilkins Road, in northern Durham County, on July 20.

The Harley's North Carolina license plate reads "CROACH."

Anyone with information about the theft should call Detective Sharon Gaines, with the Durham County Sheriff's Office at 919-560-0882 or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases, and callers never have to identify themselves.

I want to know who took my pen. It was right here on my desk just a minute ago. Could we please get some headlines about this? lol

Who cares? Its a Harley with no mufflers... personally, I'm glad to see it gone. I won't have to listen to it anymore. Besides, its probably in a container getting loaded on a ship for overseas by now. Kiss that baby GOODBYE!

Now, if it were something worth stealing, like a BMW... that's different.

They must have missed the loJack recovery of 9 bikes in Raleigh a few weeks ago....

Bet they wished they had it now.

Bad move...really bad move. There are some things that are really dangerous to steal and a Harley is one of them. There are some people that ride Harleys that would make a thief pray for the police to get them first and they have very long arms and memories. Unlike other bikes, Harley's are a way of life.

Gee, I feel slighted - the Dur'm police didn't enlist "the public" to help when my minivan was swiped from my driveway a few years ago & it didn't even make the Herald-Sun's police blotter report. They weren't even interested in examining it when it was found a week later in Greensboro even though it had a bunch of the thieves junk in it.
WRAL, if you want to do something useful, find out why the owner of this motorcycle is getting the red carpet treatment (but then again, maybe "Croach" is a pseudonym for one of the WRAL bigshots).
