Durham DA fails to file paperwork for delay
Durham County District Attorney Tracey Cline would like to postpone a Monday hearing in a motion to have her removed from office, but she didn't file her request with the clerk of court.
Posted — UpdatedCline sent an email to the clerk's office Friday, saying she has been ill and has had difficulty lining up an attorney to represent her in the case. She asked that the hearing be delayed for two weeks.
No official motion was filed with the clerk's office, however, so the hearing is expected to begin Monday morning as scheduled.
Superior Court Judge Robert Hobgood suspended Cline last month, pending the hearing, saying there was probable cause to support a motion to have her removed.
Cline has repeatedly accused Superior Court Judge Orlando Hudson in recent months of bias against her and has asked to have him barred from handling criminal cases in Durham County. Two other Superior Court judges have found Cline's complaints to be groundless.
