Durham Crime Stoppers offers reward in killing

Carrie Denise Watkins, 23, was shot July 18 and died at Duke University Hospital, police said.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham Crime Stoppers is offering cash for information leading to an arrest in the July murder of Carrie Denise Watkins.

Watkins, 23, was shot shortly before 11 p.m. on July 18 outside of 503 Bruce St. She died at Duke University Hospital.

Investigators are looking to the public for help in solving the case. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200. Callers may remain anonymous.

The Religious Coalition for a Nonviolent Durham will hold a prayer vigil in honor of Watkins on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the intersection of Owen and Bruce streets.
