Durham collisions kill one pedestrian, injures second

Durham, N.C. — Two separate vehicle collisions killed a male pedestrian and injured a female pedestrian Friday night in Durham, police said.
The first collision occurred in the 800 block of South Alston Avenue at 9:40 p.m. EMS workers transported the victim to Duke University Hospital, where he died of his injuries.
Police have not identified the victim, whom they described as a black man between 45 and 50 years old.
The second collision occurred at Pettigrew and Mangum streets shortly after 11 p.m. A 45-year-old woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Duke University Hospital. Police have not released her name.
Police have not filed any charges in either collision but were continuing to investigate.
