Missing Durham boy, 5, found safe

Posted December 2, 2012

— A 5-year-old Durham boy reported missing early Sunday has been found safe.

Police said Thomas Washington was found shortly before 8 a.m. in a stair well of a senior center at 519 E. Main St., about two-tenths of a mile from his home. He has been reunited with his parents.

Thomas' parents called police at 5:16 a.m. after finding the front door to their 111 N. Elizabeth St. home open and the boy gone.

Police said they suspect the boy walked to the senior center, but no reason was provided.

More details haven't been released.

So glad they found him safe & unharmed. Bet there's some new locks on their doors now. Kids are quick and more capable than given credit for at times.
