DURHAM, N.C. — The Animal Protection Society of Durham is offering a special deal Tuesday that will help cat owners spay or neuter their feline friends.

From 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 24, cat owners in Durham can purchase a spay or neuter voucher for cats for a $10 donation. Those who make donations will also receive a free gift.  After Tuesday, the shelter will offer vouchers for $20 through the end of March as long as donations to fund the project last.

Cat owners planning to attend should bring proof of Durham residency. APS staff will make procedure appointments for those who donate during the event.

Officials said a spay or neuter surgery can cost anywhere between $100 and $300.
