DURHAM, N.C. — Durham's 911 service was restored early Saturday morning after an outage that lasted about two hours, the Durham Emergency Communications Center said.

Durham residents and businesses in need of emergency assistance should call 911.

Non-emergency calls should still go to 919-560-4600. The “text-to-911” option for Verizon Wireless customers is also working, so customers may also send a text message to 911 for emergency help.

Officials weren't sure what caused the outage, which started around 10 p.m. Friday night.
