Dunn woman, Meredith student claims Miss NC crown
A college student from Dunn is the new Miss North Carolina. Kate Peacock was crowned Saturday night after a live competition at Raleigh's Memorial Auditorium.

Peacock wins a $12,500 scholarship to use toward her studies at Meredith College.
For a tap dance to "Swing the Mood," Peacock also was awarded the Hailey Best Overall Talent Award.
Miss Metrolina Cheslie Kryst was 1st Runner Up and was awarded a $3,500 scholarship.
