Dump truck loses load on I-440 East

Posted February 17, 2011

— The two innermost lanes of Interstate 440 Eastbound between Glenwood Avenue and Six Forks Road were closed briefly Thursday afternoon after a Raleigh dump truck lost its load, officials said.

A combination of dirt, mud, rock and asphalt being hauled from a work site was spilled along the beltline on Thursday afternoon. Preliminary reports indicate the truck’s tailgate malfunctioned.

No injuries were reported.

I-440 is no longer a complete circle.

theartistformerlyknownasspeedy - if all they gave was "eastbound", then you are correct that would not be enough information on a circle.

However, they gave both eastbound and the section of I440 where the problem occurred.

In order to be between those two intersections, and heading east, you have to be on the inner beltline.

Would that be the Inner or the Outer?

"Eastbound" is ridiculous on a circle.
