Dump truck, car collide in southeast Raleigh; two injured

Raleigh, N.C. — Two people were seriously injured early Wednesday when a car and dump truck were involved in a wreck on Sunnybrook Road near Interstate 440, Raleigh police said.
The wreck happened at about 6:15 a.m. just north of the intersection of Sunnybrook and Rock Quarry Road. Emergency personnel extinguished a fire in the car when they arrived on scene.
It wasn't clear what caused the wreck, but authorities blocked Sunnybrook Road from Rock Quarry Road to the I-440 overpass to investigate.
The road reopened at about 9 a.m.
