Duke suspends frat that hosted controversial party
An Asian student group at Duke University has filed a formal complaint with the school after a fraternity hosted a weekend party with a theme that some consider racist.

But Larry Moneta, vice president of student affairs, says the suspension has to do with other issues that are now being investigated and has nothing to do with the party. He would not elaborate.
The future of the university's chapter, he said, will be decided by Duke leaders, with input from the fraternity's parent organization.
Last week, Kappa Sigma suspended the chapter after photos surfaced of party-goers wearing Asian-style clothing, including a conical straw hat, and a party invite with the salutation, "Herro Nice Duke Peopre."
The chapter's president apologized in a written letter to the student newspaper, but the Asian Students Association filed a formal complaint and held a rally, calling on Duke to establish a task force to deal with incidents like the party.
