A few years ago, I wrote about how Duke Medicine was launching a new group for parents who are dealing with miscarriage or the death of a baby.

I just heard from Kathryn Keicher, who works with the group. Three years later, she tells me, that the group continues to be a "place where bereaved parents can meet, share their stories, and receive support around the devastating losses of miscarriage, stillbirth, and early infant loss."

Keicher said many of the participants have gone on to develop friendships and strong ties that endure even after they stop attending the program.

It is open to the community, is free and meets on the second Thursday of every month from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., in the Duke Health Center at The Streets at Southpoint.

If you'd like to learn more, contact Keicher at kathryn.keicher@duke.edu or 919-681-3576.

Other local groups are ready to help bereaved parents as well. Check our resource page for more information.
