Duke Gardens a visual oasis

Durham, N.C. — Master photographer Bob Ayers has been kind enough to coach me on shooting skills.
His weapon is a Nikon and mine a Canon. He's a Duke man. I'm a Carolina fan. Bob's an engineer and I am anything but.
However, we both get along extremely well. I joined Bob on his home turf this week at the Sarah P. Duke Gardens in Durham. What a vibrant place this time of year, with many lilies and coneflowers in bloom!
We decided to focus on macro photography. One problem though – rain.
Just when we were getting ready to start snapping pictures, the clouds opened up. The gentle rain didn't last long though and it actually made our job easier and more interesting. Droplets of rainwater on the flowers and plant added a fresh dimension to our pictures.
I am always amazed at all of the beautiful things blooming at Duke no matter what the season. That's why so many people make multiple trips to this visual oasis every year.
