RALEIGH, N.C. — After a rainy start to the weekend, sunshine returned to central North Carolina Sunday, setting up a more stable weather pattern for the work week.

Sunday started off with some low clouds and temperatures in the low 70s, but temperatures at Raleigh-Durham International Airport climbed into the upper 80s.

Some areas, including Goldsboro, reported a high of 90 degrees.

The heating produced stray showers, but the rain has moved on for most of the area, at least for a couple of days.

By Monday, conditions will be partly to mostly sunny and dry, with highs crossing the 90-degree mark.

By Friday, high temperatures could reach the mid-90s.
