The coupon I used had a picture of the Maxfresh type I bought on it (granted I had to use a magnifying glass to see it)and there was a label on the shelf at the store saying that type qualified for the ECBs. Some of these coupons the pictures and print are really small. I had another coupon from before that I didn't use because it was just for the optic and total advanced.

That's what I figured sbigham and scoutmom. The CVS folks probably didn't realize that the coupon was only for specific types. The coupons that had were probably for any Colgate since coupons in different parts of the country can be different than the ones we get here. That happens a lot with the CVS ads. They indicate we are going to have a coupon in the Sunday paper and either we don't get it at all or the one we get is not applicable to their sale. It can be confusing for sure. CVS will still probably get reimbursed for the coupons you used. I just suggest watching the wording of the coupon more. :-)

  • sbigham3 Nov 13, 2012

I completely understand what you are saying, Faye, and I didn't use the $.75 q knowing it wasn't for the brand listed. I only went by the ad which encourages the use of the coupon. That's confusing to me if we aren't supposed to actually use it.

  • scoutmomof2 Nov 12, 2012

Faye, that is good to know, I assumed it would since the ad stated that there was a 75 cent coupon in most Sunday newspapers and that was the only one in there.

I assumed the .75 Colgate coupon would scan for the CVS deal but it is clearly not for the varieties that qualify for the Extrabuck (based on the wording of the coupon). I try hard to make sure I don't post deals using coupons for items they are not intended to be used for.

Sometimes folks don't realize that just because a coupon will scan for an item, doesn't mean it is ok to use it for that item. It's actually considered coupon fraud to use a coupon for an item other than what the wording of the coupon indicates it can be used on.

A good rule of thumb is to follow the wording on the coupon to make sure you are buying the varieties and sizes allowed on the coupon.

Thanks for the info on the Reinventing Beauty Colgate coupon and the Huggies deal, missltee and sbigham. :-)

  • sbigham3 Nov 12, 2012

I was able to use the $.75 q from yesterday's paper as well and the $1 from the CVS flyer. Also, if you printed the $3 off Huggies qs a few days back, it makes the Huggies diapers a better deal than the Pampers. CVS flyer has a $2 q for those as well!

  • missltee Nov 12, 2012

The Fall Reinventing Beauty Magazine (with Sofia Vergara on the cover) has a $1Q for the Colgate Max Fresh making the deal a money maker!

  • scoutmomof2 Nov 12, 2012

I used the 75 cent coupons from the 11/11 SS for the Maxfresh Colcate and it worked just fine. I did two of them in the same transaction and got my $4 ECB.
