Driver won't be charged for hitting pedestrian

A driver will not be charged in an accident that critically injured a pedestrian on Western Boulevard on Friday, police said.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A driver will not be charged in an accident that critically injured a pedestrian on Western Boulevard on Friday, police said.

The driver, LaTonya Lynnette McKoy, 22, of Raleigh, was cited for driving without auto insurance.

The wreck report indicated that Rashid Pierre Riboul, 23, of 14174 Old Lake Road in Riegelwood, was crossing against the light near Western and Avent Ferry Road. McKoy had a green light and was going at the posted speed limit of 45 mph, according to the report.

Riboul remained in critical condition at WakeMed on Sunday.
