SANFORD, N.C. — The driver of a car that went off a bridge and into a creek in western Harnett County Monday afternoon has died, authorities said Tuesday.

Raheem Miller, 24, died at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, where he had been in critical condition after the crash.

State Highway Patrol troopers said Raheem Miller lost control of his car on Barbecue Church Road, off N.C. Highway 87 southeast of Sanford, and ran off the right side of the road. He then over-corrected and ran off the road to the left, hitting a guardrail on the bridge and flipping over into a creek, troopers said.

Passenger Gordon Harrington, 53, was treated at WakeMed in Raleigh and released.
