DURHAM, N.C. — Westbound lanes of N.C. Highway 55 were closed at Cornwallis Road in Durham for more than two hours Thursday afternoon following a crash involving a car with no driver, police said.

An unoccupied car parked in a convenience store parking lot apparently went out of gear at about 2:30 p.m. and rolled down a hill onto N.C. 55, where it collided with a westbound work truck, police said. Two people in the truck were ejected and suffered serious injuries.

Police said westbound N.C. 55 reopened shortly before 5 p.m.
