KENLY, N.C. — A driver was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Princeton-Kenly Road in Johnston County in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Troopers said Vicente Sanchez-Vallejo, 20, of Kenly, was traveling north on Princeton-Kenly Road when his vehicle ran off the road and struck a ditch around 1:45 a.m. The vehicle overturned and landed upside down in a yard near Rhodes Road.

Sanchez-Vallejo was pinned in the vehicle and had to be cut out. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.

Troopers said they do not suspect alcohol was involved but are continuing to investigate.

Authorities said the cause of death was blunt force trauma, suffered when Sanchez-Valellejo's head struck the roof of the car. He was wearing his seat belt, and the air bags did deploy.
