Zebulon, N.C. — A 25-year-old man died in a single-vehicle wreck Thursday on Carlyle Road in Wake County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Troopers said Jonathan Silvestre drove left of the center line, lost control and struck a tree. He was not wearing a seat belt.
Witnesses told troopers that Silvestre passed several cars along the road at a high rate of speed before crashing. The speed limit on the road is 45 mph, and troopers estimated Silvestre was traveling about 70 mph when he crashed.
