A 20-year-old Garner man was killed Saturday morning when he lost control on a sharp curve and ran off the roadway into some woods, Raleigh police said.

The crash happened around 7:15 a.m. when Gustavo Ruiz Jr. was heading east on Tryon Road between Withers Road and Par Drive.

The driver's side of Ruiz's car struck a tree. The cause of the wreck is under investigation.

The Tryon Road realignment will take that curve out and run the new Tryon through Renaissance Park, the new road was put in by the developers, however, the city needs to do the connections at each end and that won't be done until next year. The big issue is the railroad bridge is state owned and the road is city, so they went back and forth for a while to arrange a timeline. The DOT came in and met with the homeowners in Ren Park a few months ago, that's the only reason I know this now.

That is a very dangerous curve. Not only is it sharp, but it's slanted as well. NCDOT should consider redoing that part of the road. Prayers go out to his family!

Maybe it isn't WRAL's fault with the map because it says Google. So maybe you need to blame Google. To the family I am sorry for your loss.

Out of respect you'd think WRAL would try to get the map somewhere close to the actual location of the accident.
