MORRISVILLE, N.C. — A Morrisville woman whose car got stuck on train tracks escaped without injury Tuesday afternoon, bailing out minutes before an Amtrak train hit her car.

Sujana Kolluru said she was on her way home from work when her car came to a stop on the tracks in heavy traffic. Moments later, the train safety arms and lights activated.

"Just in seconds, my car – the train hit my car," Kolluru said.

Traffic in the area was slowed, but no one was injured.

Morrisville authorities closed McCrimmon Parkway between N.C. Highway 54 (Chapel Hill Road) and Church Street just before 6 p.m. as they dealt with the collision.

The wreck tore a cable on the crossing bars, and a Morrisville spokeswoman said the intersection would remain closed until at least 7 p.m.
