Driver in critical condition after Fayetteville wreck

Authorities said Raymond Wrench, 65, apparently had a heart attack and lost control of his vehicle and hit a tree shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday on Ramsey Street near Luther Jeralds Middle School.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police are investigating a wreck that sent the driver to a local hospital.

Authorities said Raymond Wrench, 65, apparently had a heart attack and lost control of his vehicle and hit a tree shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday on Ramsey Street near Luther Jeralds Middle School.

Paramedics transported Wrench to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Initial reports on Sunday from police indicated that Wrench had died, but he was listed in critical condition at Cape Fear Valley Monday morning.
