— A wreck late Sunday near Princeton sent a driver to the hospital with serious injuries, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the driver was speeding along Braswell Road and lost control, striking two trees. The car overturned, and the driver was pinned under the pickup truck.

It took about 45 minutes to extricate the driver, who was taken to a hospital with head trauma and punctured lungs, troopers said.

Charges are expected to be filed against the driver, whose name was not immediately released.

Among the first responder heroes at this accident scene was a neighbor with a forklift who quickly helped lift and stabilize the wrecked truck. Oddly, the neighbor told me that they had just, that day, considered cutting those two trees down, but didn't.
