ROXBORO, N.C. — A Roxboro man faces DWI and reckless driving charges for a wreck Saturday that killed one person and left the driver and two others injured, according to Sgt. Jeff Gordon, spokesman for the State Highway Patrol.

Charles Guy Lee, 22, of 321 Sandy Hills Road, was driving on Denny's Store Road when he lost control of the vehicle near Lonnie Gentry Road around 1 a.m., Gordon said.

The troopers who responded to the wreck said that alcohol and speed were both factors.

Victoria Elaine Clayton, 16, of 222 Reams Ave., a back-seat passenger, was killed, troopers said.

Two others in the back seat – Tanya Lorena Gomez, 18, of 135 Piney Forest Drive, and Natalia Munoz, 18, of 2099 Halifax Road – and James Edward Strickland III, 23, of 61 Granite Drive Roxboro, who was riding shotgun, were injured.

Strickland was ejected from the vehicle, troopers said.

Gordon said the charges against Lee could be upgraded pending a consultation with Person County acting District Attorney Jim Long.
